Sidney Parker started Passports-2-Go in 1972. At that time it was located in a rustic building near Clear Lake. Today the business occupies space in a small building on Blazer Avenue in downtown Pettisville.
The Travel needs of the Pettisville community vary greatly. Passports-2-Go has seen an increase in servic to businesses in Pettisville but has experienced a decline in saled from individuals planning travel. The main reason for the decrease in sales to individuals is the availability of travel arrangements mae through Internet services. The Internet is a worldwide networ of users who communiate electonically. Sidney saw this trend early on and concentrate his sales efforts on the business community.
Because of Sidney's careful planning and hard work, his volume of sales has increased; and he has added more staff to accommodate the needs of the business community. Currently, Passports-2-Go offers group and individual travel plans to meet the needs of small and large corporations, senior citizens groups, chariy fundraisers, church groups, and meeting planners.
Passports-2-Go arranges for hotel reservations, airline flights, airport and transportation coordination, car rentals, business conferences, offsite activities planning, name badge preparation, and food and beverage service. The travel agency specializes in assisting bsinesses in offering incentive trips for their employees and customers. It also provides an additional service to businesses that few other travel agencies offer- customized reports to help clients control their travel budgets.
Sidney is aware of the timesaving advantages availble to him through the used of a computer. He uses the latest travel software, which simplifies the reservations process. he would like to hire an account specialist who is knowledgeable about computers and can ac cess data on-line to provde better service to his clients in less time. This will free him to concentrate on expanding his sales into new territories.
His immediate desire, howver, is to hire a manager with a sincere interest in the travel business. Sidney will offer a 10 percent share of the profits to his manager and consider selling the company when he retires to someone who, in his judgment, will provide his clients with quality services offered by his agency.
The manager of Passports-2-Go will be expected to keep banking and payroll records, bill bill customers for services received, hire new employees, and travel with groups as neede. The manager will also be expected to handle daily transactions with other businesses.
